Intuit was awarded second place in San Diego Business Journals’ annual ranking for San Diego’s Healthiest Companies headquartered outside of San Diego. Kaiser Permanente, a health care company was ranked number one.

This is the first time Intuit applied for this recognition and the second year of the awards.

More than 60 companies entered the competition, which assessed organizations on their culture and environment, leadership support for wellness, budget for wellness programs, success stories, and their future wellness strategy.

“Building a culture of wellness at Intuit has been a continuous journey with many great partners that help integrate our wellness strategies,” said Sarah Lecuna, benefits program manager. “These strategies help reduce individual risk and cost over time, using onsite and virtual programs that encourage and engage employees to make healthy choices, as well as a workplace that provides an environment that supports behavior change. Thanks also goes to our employees for their partnership. It’s employees who take an active role in their health that make the programs successful.”

The awards ceremony was held at the Hilton Torrey Pines on September 15, with more than 100 local businesses and more than 400 attendees. Nick Macchione, director of San Diego County’s Health and Human Services Agency, was the keynote speaker. He shared how local employers can make an impact on the health of the overall community through corporate wellness programs and commended all attendees on their dedication to health and wellness.

This is great recognition of Intuit’s commitment to wellness,” said Lance Bell, workplace offerings leader. “We continue to partner with employees on programs and services like our on-site fitness centers at larger locations, the Be Active for Life fitness program, and Eat Right for Life café specials.”

Cynthia Miranda, Medifit fitness center manager, Lance Bell, workplace offerings leader, Sarah Lecuna, benefits program manager, and Stephanie Averkamp, Medifit fitness center, accepted the award on behalf of Intuit.
